Educational Programming

Museum Beelden aan Zee offers a wide variety of engaging and interactive educational activities. Children of different age groups (ages 3-7, 8-12, or 12-18) can enjoy an array of informative and fun multi-sensory workshops. These programs can guide them through expressing themselves, seeing art and experiencing the artistic process via materials and tools, while building their spatial and emotional intelligence. These activities can be organized for primary and secondary school groups as well as for visitors during the school holidays. A bespoke programme is also possible to arrange.

The newest hall in the museum, the Gipsoteca, has been open since November 14th, 2014. The Gipsoteca houses more than 1000 preliminary plaster studies of sculptures. These forms provide vital insight into the artists’ creative thought processes. It is a unique space that opens up discussions not only about artistic processes and inspirations but technical discussion of spacial engineering and the tools used to create the art around them. Workshops designed specifically for this hall are available for a variety of age groups. During sessions, participants actively become acquainted with the Gipsoteca and with plaster as a material.

In addition to having 2 permanent members of staff, our education department includes 12 museum guides and 2 free guides. Together they are responsible for setting up and carrying out the educational projects that take place in the museum. Contact the education department via: educatie@beeldenaanzee.nl
