Volunteers

Museum Beelden aan Zee could not exist without the commitment of our 170 volunteers. They work in close collaboration with a small number of permanent staff.

Volunteers welcome the museum’s visitors and fulfil a variety of activities in the gift shop, in the café, on the telephone and in the exhibition areas. They also provide visitors with information, give guided tours, carry out documentary and library work, write articles, lend assistance in the setting up of new exhibitions and in the organization of events. In addition, they carry out administrative, financial and commercial tasks.

Volunteers receive training about working in the museum, about the museum’s collection and about sculpture. In the case of new exhibitions the museum organizes a guided tour by the artist or by the museum’s conservator; the volunteers are also provided with background information. The museum regularly provides lectures and periodic training courses for the benefit of the volunteers’ continuing education.
