Museum Beelden aan Zee offers an art program for people with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia, and their caregivers. This program is inspired by the Meet me at MoMa program of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Together, in a relaxed and positive atmosphere, they view a number of artworks.
Experience has shown that the Alzheimer's program not only leads to an improvement in the quality of life of the person with Alzheimer's disease but also has positive effects for the caregiver and the relationship between them. Moreover, the museum provides a safe and inspiring environment to connect with peers.
During the tour, you will look at art in an interactive way in a small group, guided by a specially trained docent from the museum Beelden aan Zee. During these tours, the terms Alzheimer's and dementia are never used.
What do you see?
What feeling do you get from it?
What does the artwork remind you of?
This way of looking together has a proven positive influence on the self-confidence and mood of the person with dementia.
