Museum Beelden aan Zee presents the exhibition Rui Chafes X Alberto Giacometti: Gris, Vide, Cris III, organised in collaboration with the Fondation Giacometti and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. In this international exhibition, Chafes’s work enters into a unique dialogue with that of Swiss modernist Alberto Giacometti. Chafes’s striking installations offer a new, contemplative and sensory experience of Giacometti’s world-famous sculptures.
During the English-language Artist Talk, Chafes talks about his artistic practice, his appreciation of Giacometti’s work, and the ideas and themes underlying the exhibition. Catherine Grenier, director of the Fondation Giacometti, discusses the power of dialogue with contemporary artists and the enduring relevance of Giacometti’s work. The conversation is moderated by director and co-curator Brigitte Bloksma. After the talk, Rui Chafes will sign copies of the exhibition catalogue.
During this edition of After Hours, discover how art can also come to life without sight during a special performance by The Invisible Museum. With live classical music, immersive storytelling and carefully selected scents, you can experience art through all your senses in a unique experience that demonstrates how art can be accessible to everyone. There will also be flash tours, clay workshops and music by a DJ.
