Experiment like an artist - Group 5 to 8

Creating an artwork is very personal. Not only what you make, but also how you make something. In this museum lesson, you will explore the artistic process of sculptors. You will learn about different materials and techniques by experimenting with them yourself. A sculpture can be carved from stone, cut from wood, or cast in bronze or plaster. During the tour, you can feel, smell, and work with these materials! In the workshop, you will create your own artwork in plaster. By making a mold, you will learn to think spatially and discover that hollow shapes become convex and convex shapes become hollow. Experiment like an artist!

The lesson plan can be downloaded here

The lesson consists of a tour and a plaster casting workshop. The lesson perfectly aligns with the COH projects ‘This is me’ and ‘Introducing’ for group 5-6 and group 7-8 (Visual Arts/Identity).
