Mission and Vision

Museum Beelden aan Zee enriches people's lives with modern and contemporary sculpture through its exhibition program, educational projects, and publications.

Museum Beelden aan Zee is the only museum in the Netherlands that is exclusively dedicated to the presentation of, education about, and research into sculpture. Every day in the museum, you step into a world of images and imagination. This is where the most beautiful and inspiring encounters occur. Between artists and visitors and between art and its viewers.

No language is needed to understand sculpture. You experience sculpture by walking around it, touching it, and experiencing it with all your senses. This makes sculpture an inclusive discipline par excellence that touches people regardless of age, cultural or social background, gender, or disability. This also makes the discipline accessible to people for whom visiting a museum is not self-evident, such as the blind and visually impaired, for whom the museum offers a tailored program. In its aim to introduce as many people as possible to modern and contemporary sculpture, policies on diversity and inclusion are indispensable.
