Heads together

Putting our heads together

Putting our heads together

Ages 8-12

In this workshop, students look for the identity of an artist while examining their own. Together with a specialized guide from the museum, they discuss and compare the diverse works of art in the museum. How can you tell which work is by which artist? How does an artist show their identity in his work? In our portrait gallery, we look at the wide variety of forms a (self-) portrait can take. How do they differ from one another, and how does the artist show the identity of the person in the portrait? After this, the children get to work creating their own self-portrait, in turn exploring how to go about representing their own identity expressively.
